Intelligent Bear Japan Factory Attack: Animal Unlocks Window, Turns On Tap and Stays Free
Japan – (Web Desk) – An intelligent bear Japan factory attack has left officials stunned after the animal injured four people, outsmarted hunters, and escaped capture by apparently unlatching a window on its own.
The incident took place Tuesday when the bear attacked workers at two separate factories in Fukushima. After the attacks, the animal hid inside one of the buildings. Despite a major response from hunters, police, and firefighters armed with traps and anaesthetic guns, the bear managed to slip away late Wednesday night.
Fukushima city mayor Yuki Baba confirmed that claw marks were found near the window the bear used to escape. He said evidence strongly suggested the animal opened the window by itself. The bear was also believed to have turned on a water tap inside the building to drink. Mayor Baba described the animal as “extremely intelligent.”
“We took every possible step available to us,” the mayor told reporters. “Failing to catch it despite our best efforts is deeply regrettable.”
As of Friday morning, the bear remains at large, according to a local Fukushima official.
This incident comes at a time when bear activity across Japan has reached alarming levels. In the last fiscal year ending March, bear sightings across the country crossed 50,000 — more than double the previous record set just two years ago. Last year alone, bears killed a record 13 people in Japan.
Bears have been spotted entering homes, wandering near schools, and causing chaos in supermarkets and hot spring resorts on a near-daily basis. Wildlife experts say the animals are thriving due to a warmer climate that has increased food supplies, including acorns, deer, and wild boar.
Authorities continue to search for the bear and have urged local residents to remain cautious.
