Hasan Afzal Rana Calls for Greater Inclusion of Minority Communities in National Development

Sahiwal: A high-level meeting between Hasan Afzal Rana, Director of the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Fr. Nadeem Joseph OP, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Parish Sahiwal, brought together religious leaders, community representatives, and business stakeholders to discuss the establishment of the Pakistan Minority Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PMCCI).

The meeting focused on strengthening entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, business development, and representation for minority communities across Pakistan. Participants emphasized the importance of creating a dedicated platform to support minority-owned businesses, generate employment, encourage investment, and enhance their contribution to national development.

Among those present were Fr. Atique OP, Ashiknaz Khokhar, Rev. Naeem Shakir (Church of Pakistan), Rev. Suleman Gulzar (Presbyterian Church), Bishop Muneeb Gill, Rukhsana Akhtar, Parveen Nazir, and Younas Masih, along with other community leaders and stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Hasan Afzal Rana highlighted the need for greater inclusion of minority communities in economic and social activities. He encouraged participation in business, education, sports, and community development, emphasizing that minority communities are valuable contributors to Pakistan’s progress.

Participants discussed challenges faced by minority entrepreneurs and stressed stronger engagement with government institutions, policymakers, and the private sector. The proposed chamber would advocate for business-friendly policies, facilitate networking, support entrepreneurs, and promote investment within minority communities.

The meeting also addressed civic participation and representation, with community representatives emphasizing the importance of ensuring minority voices are heard in policy-making and national development discussions.

A key theme was the promotion of interfaith harmony and cooperation. Participants agreed that collaboration among different faith communities is essential for building a more inclusive and prosperous Pakistan.
