Pending Cases In Lahore Courts Cross 321000 Mark
Lahore: (Web Desk) The backlog of cases in Lahore’s district courts continues to rise steadily, with pending cases now exceeding 321,000.
Official figures show that by April 1, 2026, a total of 305,849 cases were already awaiting hearings in various courts across Lahore. During April alone, another 67,554 new cases were registered, while only 51,082 cases were resolved, further increasing pressure on the judicial system.

Criminal courts, however, recorded a slight improvement. The number of pending criminal cases dropped from 33,309 to 31,389 after courts disposed of 9,316 cases against 7,754 newly filed cases during the month.
On the other hand, civil courts experienced a significant rise in workload. The total number of pending civil cases surged to 290,265, making civil litigation the largest contributor to Lahore’s growing judicial backlog.
Data also revealed that 59,800 fresh cases were filed in civil courts during April 2026, while judges managed to decide 41,766 cases, leaving thousands still awaiting verdicts and hearings.
