Man Claiming Indian Citizenship Held in Rawalpindi Operation

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police have detained a suspicious individual from the Chohar Chowk area who claimed to be an Indian national. The arrest was carried out by officials from Westridge Police Station during routine patrolling.

According to police sources, the suspect was spotted moving towards Dhamial when he suddenly attempted to change direction after noticing the police, raising suspicion. Officers promptly intercepted and questioned him.

During the search, the man failed to present any valid identification documents. Upon further interrogation, he identified himself as Dalir Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sufi, and reportedly admitted to being an Indian citizen.

Police recovered two ballpoint pens and Rs1,750 in cash from his possession. A case has been registered under the Foreigners Act, and relevant authorities have been notified to further investigate the matter and determine additional details.
