President Zardari Reaffirms Strong Ties with China During Hunan Visit
President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China during his official visit, holding key discussions with Hunan provincial leadership in Changsha.
During a meeting with Hunan Provincial Party Secretary Shen Xiaoming, both sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including agriculture, health, education, and trade. President Zardari described Pakistan-China relations as a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy, highlighting the longstanding and people-centric nature of the partnership.
He praised Hunan’s progress in agricultural technology and equipment, noting that such expertise could significantly enhance Pakistan’s agricultural productivity. The president also stressed the importance of expanding trade and exploring new economic opportunities between the two sides.
Shen Xiaoming highlighted growing academic collaboration, stating that universities in Hunan have signed twelve cooperation agreements with Pakistani institutions, while nearly nine hundred fifty-nine Pakistani students are currently studying in the province.
Later, President Zardari attended a dinner hosted by Hunan Governor Mao Weiming, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening people-to-people connections and expanding cooperation.
Zardari also acknowledged Hunan’s historical importance as the birthplace of Mao Zedong, noting that the idea of empowering people resonates strongly with Pakistan. The Chinese leadership described the Pakistan-China friendship as exemplary and expressed resolve to further deepen the longstanding relationship.
