Trump says Iran deal failure could lead to war soon

US warns of escalation if Iran nuclear deal collapses

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Donald Trump has stated that the ongoing ceasefire with Iran will not be extended if a diplomatic agreement is not reached. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that the ceasefire is set to expire Wednesday evening and made it clear that there will be no additional extensions without progress.

Trump noted that while the United States is not rushing into an unfavorable agreement, the consequences of failing to secure a deal could be severe. When asked whether conflict could begin immediately after the ceasefire ends, he responded that war would be inevitable if negotiations collapse, warning that “many bombs will start exploding.”

Addressing Iran’s role in the talks, Trump insisted that Tehran should be present at the negotiating table, stating that participation had already been agreed upon. However, he added that the United States would proceed regardless of whether Iran ultimately takes part.

The US President reiterated that the core objective of the negotiations is straightforward: Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons. He stressed that this remains the primary condition for any agreement.

Trump also expressed optimism that resolving tensions with Iran could positively impact global oil markets, suggesting that prices would drop rapidly if the situation stabilizes.

Earlier, Trump revealed that a high-level US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is heading to Islamabad for talks. The delegation includes Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

He added that he is open to meeting Iranian leaders if meaningful progress is achieved, stating that the US is currently engaging with the appropriate representatives from Iran.
