ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has completed initial hearings into several high-profile cases involving medical institutions and has forwarded them to its disciplinary committee for final decisions.
According to officials, preliminary proceedings were conducted to review evidence and establish facts in three major cases, including student suicides, harassment allegations, and a controversial hospital video leak. Representatives from the concerned institutions were called in to present their stance before the council.
Among the cases examined was the alleged suicide of a student from Fatima Jinnah Medical University, identified as Fariha, as well as the case of Fehmida Leghari, a student of Muhammad Medical College. Principals from both institutions appeared before the council and shared their responses during the hearings.
The council also reviewed the widely circulated video reportedly filmed inside an operation theatre at Lady Wellington Hospital. Five doctors were summoned and questioned as part of the inquiry into the incident.

Reaffirming its stance, the PMDC emphasized a strict zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, negligence, and professional misconduct. It warned that anyone found responsible will face firm disciplinary action.
The council further stressed that violations of student protection laws will not be tolerated and highlighted the need for stronger internal grievance mechanisms within educational institutions to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students.
All cases have now been referred to the disciplinary committee, which is expected to convene next week to determine further action.
