Islamabad Rawalpindi Transport Suspended Amid Heightened Security Measures
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Transport operations across Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been halted as authorities enforce strict security measures in both cities. Officials confirmed that private vehicles, public transport, and goods carriers will remain off the roads until further notice, causing significant disruption for commuters.
The metro bus service has also been partially suspended. According to the administration, operations between PIMS Station and Pak Secretariat have been completely shut down, while limited service continues from Saddar Station to Kachheri.
Meanwhile, security in Rawalpindi has been intensified, with additional police personnel deployed across key routes and sensitive locations. Authorities have established extra checkpoints on major arteries including Murree Road, Expressway, and routes connecting Saddar to Faizabad. Key bus terminals such as Faizabad, Pir Wadhai, and Stop No. 26 have been closed, and commercial activity in Faizabad has also been restricted.

The traffic police have issued a detailed advisory, stating that the Red Zone and its surrounding areas will remain fully sealed for all types of traffic. Major routes including the Expressway from Koral to Zero Point are closed, while intermittent closures may also be enforced on Srinagar Highway.
Officials have further announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Islamabad from any highway. Transporters have been urged to avoid travel toward the capital, while residents are advised to follow alternative routes and remain updated on the evolving traffic situation.
