Iran Announces New Toll System for Ships Passing Through Strait of Hormuz

Experts say the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iran has announced the imposition of toll fees on all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz under a newly introduced control system, marking a significant development amid rising regional tensions.

Head of Iran’s Parliamentary National Security Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, said in an interview with Russian media that every vessel transiting the strategic waterway will be required to pay a fee under the new mechanism.

He stated that the move is part of efforts to ensure full control and effective management of the vital maritime route in line with national interests, while also expressing distrust toward the United States.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Mohammad Sadeq said work is underway to restore oil refining capacity damaged in recent attacks by the United States and Israel. He expressed optimism that 70 to 80 percent of production capacity will be restored within the next two months.

He further noted that parts of the Lavan refinery are expected to resume operations within the next 10 days, which could gradually improve oil output.
