Pakistan and Egypt Reaffirm Brotherhood, Boost Trade and Security Cooperation

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Ati to discuss the regional situation and strengthen bilateral ties, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.

Senator Ishaq Dar warmly welcomed his Egyptian counterpart, emphasizing that Pakistan values its long-standing and brotherly relations with Egypt, rooted in shared history, religion, and alignment on regional and global issues. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations comprehensively and highlighted the positive outcomes of prior high-level engagements, including Dr. Badr Abdel Ati’s visit to Pakistan in November 2025.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhance cooperation across all sectors, focusing on boosting trade and investment. They stressed the need to activate bilateral mechanisms, including the Joint Ministerial Commission and closer engagement with business communities. Senator Ishaq Dar also appreciated Egypt’s ongoing support in Pakistan’s health sector, particularly efforts to combat Hepatitis C.

The discussion extended to defense and security cooperation, with both sides agreeing to strengthen collaboration through training exchanges and institutional mechanisms. They also addressed ongoing regional and global developments, emphasizing that conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and the West Bank, appreciating Egypt’s humanitarian assistance to Gaza and support for Pakistan’s relief efforts.

The two countries agreed to continue close coordination in multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting followed recent high-level talks, including those held in Riyadh on March 19, 2026, reflecting the close cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt on regional developments.
