Saudi Arabia intercepts 439 Iranian drones and 36 missiles in sustained attack

Saudi Arabia and Gulf states face relentless drone and missile attacks from Iran, with defenses on constant alert.

Saudi Arabia – (Web Desk) – Saudi Arabia has intercepts at least 439 hostile drones and 36 missiles since Iran started its strikes on Gulf states. These attacks came after the US and Israel hit Tehran on February 28, according to the Saudi Defense Ministry.

The numbers, gathered from official Saudi statements and reports by the Saudi Press Agency, show how serious and constant Iran’s campaign has been. For nearly three weeks, Saudi air defenses have been on high alert.

Most of the drones, around 278, were sent toward the Eastern Province, where many oil refineries are located. Shaybah, a major oilfield in the Empty Quarter, was also targeted. Most of the missiles aimed at Al-Kharj, near the Prince Sultan Air Base, southeast of Riyadh.

Iran has also fired hundreds of missiles and drones at other Gulf countries. The UAE faced the heaviest attacks. By March 17, its Ministry of Defense said its forces intercepted 1,672 drones, 314 ballistic missiles, and 15 cruise missiles from Iran.

Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain were hit several times. Even Oman, which usually keeps quiet ties with Tehran, saw drones strike its Duqm port.

Iran says it is only targeting US military and Israeli-linked sites, not Gulf civilian areas. Gulf governments disagree and have protested, summoning Iranian ambassadors.

The attacks come as Arab and Islamic foreign ministers meet in Riyadh. The meeting aims to plan ways to support peace and stability in the region.

With no ceasefire yet, air defenses are working nonstop. Experts warn the chance to reduce tensions may be running out.
