Iranian drones strike Azerbaijan airport, Baku blames Tehran
Iranian drones strike Nakhchivan airport terminal in Azerbaijan, injuring two civilians as regional tensions rise and the Iran-Israel conflict intensifies.
Iran Drone – (Web Desk) – Amid Iran’s intensified retaliatory actions, three Iranian drones reportedly struck the passenger terminal of an airport in Azerbaijan during the latest round of attacks.
The targeted airport is located in Nakhchivan, an Azerbaijani exclave bordering Iran. Authorities in Baku confirmed that at least two civilians were injured when the drones hit the passenger terminal of Nakhchivan International Airport on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
According to a statement from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one drone directly hit the airport terminal, while another landed near a school in the village of Shakarabad.
Condemning the incident, the ministry said the drone strikes launched from Iranian territory caused damage to the airport building and left two civilians injured.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show a drone flying toward the airport before striking the terminal, with emergency teams rushing to the scene shortly after the impact.

The incident comes as the conflict involving Iran continues to escalate, now entering its sixth day, with Tehran increasing retaliatory attacks against Israel and targeting US bases across the Middle East.
The latest attacks come in the backdrop of Iran’s latest wave of attacks on Thursday morning, March 5, on Israel and U.S. bases and threatened that the U.S. would “bitterly regret” torpedoing an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean. On the other hand, Israel said it had launched a “large-scale” attack on Tehran.
