Ishaq Dar Highlights Pakistan’s Delicate Middle East Diplomacy

DPM Explains Pakistan’s Balancing Act in Middle East Crisis

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – As tensions in the Middle East continue to intensify, Ishaq Dar has shed light on how Pakistan navigated a sensitive diplomatic landscape. With a longstanding defence partnership with Saudi Arabia and complex relations with Iran, Islamabad adopted what Dar described as “shuttle diplomacy” to prevent further escalation.

According to Dar, Pakistan conveyed to Tehran that it remains committed to its security obligations with Riyadh, while firmly assuring that Pakistani territory would not be used against Saudi Arabia. The diplomatic outreach, he noted, was part of ongoing efforts to ease mounting regional tensions.

These behind-the-scenes exchanges reportedly coincided with a decline in attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Oman compared to previous periods. The development underscores Pakistan’s attempt to maintain strategic ties with Saudi Arabia while continuing dialogue with Iran.

Dar’s remarks have drawn significant attention amid the region’s fragile security environment. Analysts believe Pakistan’s mediation efforts and public positioning could shape regional perceptions and influence broader discussions around alliances, neutrality, and non-interference.
