Army Called in; 3-Day Curfew Imposed in Gilgit, Skardu

Three-day curfew in Gilgit and Skardu as army deployed amid unrest, residents urged to stay indoors and stay safe.

Gilgit-Baltistan – (Web Desk) – The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced a three-day curfew in Gilgit and Skardu, calling in Pakistan Army troops to support local authorities amid rising unrest. This decision comes after widespread protests following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which have strained the region’s law and order.

An official notice from the Home and Prisons Department highlighted concerns over the “fragile” security situation, particularly in Gilgit and Skardu. To prevent any further incidents and protect lives and property, the notification requested army deployment and the curfew for March 2, 3, and 4.

According to the notification, a schedule for curfew and relaxation has also been issued.
