Google Maps Setting That Could Help Save Battery
One Google Maps Permission Worth Checking on Your Phone
ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Google Maps is one of the world’s most widely used navigation apps, helping millions of people find directions and reach their destinations. However, certain features and settings can increase battery consumption, particularly when the app uses location services for extended periods.
GPS usage, screen brightness and keeping the display active during navigation can all contribute to faster battery drain. Background location access may also consume power, depending on the device, app settings and how frequently location data is requested.
One setting worth checking is Google Maps’ location permission. If the app has access to your location all the time, it may be able to request location updates even when you are not actively using it. However, this does not necessarily mean that GPS remains continuously active or that the app is constantly tracking you.
Google Maps also offers a location-sharing feature that allows users to share their real-time location with selected people. Users should review their sharing settings and stop sharing when it is no longer needed.
Fortunately, Android users can restrict Google Maps’ access to their location to reduce unnecessary background activity.
To change the setting, open your phone’s Settings, select Apps, then Google Maps, and tap Permissions. Choose Location and select Allow only while using the app, if that option is available.
This setting allows Google Maps to access your location while you are actively using it, while limiting its access outside the app. Keep in mind that some features may work differently when background location access is restricted.
Reviewing location permissions and disabling unnecessary location sharing can help you manage battery usage while maintaining control over your location privacy.
