5,500 Cops Assigned to Protect Mosques, Imambargahs in Lahore

Lahore increases mosque security with police, volunteers, traffic control, and strict Ramadan law enforcement for public safety during holy month.

Lahore – (Web Desk) – A detailed security plan has been put in place in Lahore to maintain peace during the holy month of Ramadan. According to a Lahore Police spokesperson, strict security arrangements have been made for 4,999 mosques and imambargahs across the city.

More than 5,500 police officers and personnel, including traffic police and Dolphin Force teams, have been deployed to perform their duties.

He added that over 14,000 volunteers are also assisting security efforts, taking positions inside and around mosques and imambargahs to help ensure the safety of worshippers.

On the other hand, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has ordered beefing up security at all mosques and imambargahs as well as at other important sites.

He has ordered the divisional officers to ensure field visits during Sehr, Iftar and Taraveeh prayers.

The CCPO has also made it clear that action will be taken against all those violating the Ramadan Ordinance without any discrimination.

Similarly, he has directed that special arrangements be made to regulate traffic at the time of Iftari.
