Pakistan Secure Second Consecutive Win Over USA in T20 World Cup

Colombo (Web Desk) — Pakistan secured their second consecutive victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by defeating the United States comfortably by 32 runs in a Group A clash.
The USA won the toss and elected to field, inviting Pakistan to bat first.
Pakistan posted 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan was the standout performer, scoring 73 runs, while Babar Azam contributed a fluent 46 off 32 balls. Other notable contributions included Shadab Khan, who smashed 30 runs off 12 balls.
Opening pair Saem Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan put together a solid 54-run partnership, giving Pakistan a strong start. However, Saem was dismissed for 19, and captain Salman Ali Agha returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run. Despite these setbacks, Pakistan managed to post a competitive total.
ICC Issues Key Statement on Pakistan–India Match
From the USA side, Shadley van Schalkwyk took 4 crucial wickets to keep the innings in check.
Chasing 191, the USA could manage only 158 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs, falling short by 32 runs. Pakistan thus avenged their 2024 defeat to the USA, showing strong batting and disciplined bowling.
For the match against the USA, Pakistan made one change, bringing in Usman Tariq in place of Salman Mirza. The playing XI included: Sahibzada Farhan, Saem Ayub, Babar Azam, Salman Agha, Usman Khan, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Usman Tariq, and Abrar Ahmed.
In their opening match, Pakistan had narrowly defeated the Netherlands by 3 wickets, while the USA had suffered a loss against India.
This victory keeps Pakistan’s campaign on track and boosts confidence ahead of their upcoming matches.
