Islamabad Suicide bombing attack at Imambargah in Tarlai Kalan, 31 martyred, 170 critically injured.

Islamabad – (Zahid Ali – Web Desk) – A suicide bombing attack at an Imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai Kalan area has resulted in 32 people being martyred and 170 others critically injured. Among the injured, a cousin of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police also embraced martyrdom.

According to details, the suicide bombing occurred during Friday prayers at Imambargah Qasr-e-Khadijat-ul-Kubra in the Tarlai Kalan area of the federal capital, plunging the entire city into mourning. As a result of the blast, at least 32 people were martyred on the spot, while more than 170 sustained serious injuries.

The explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard in far-flung areas, causing widespread panic and fear in the locality, with scenes of chaos and distress everywhere. Eyewitnesses stated that the suicide bomber detonated himself at the main entrance of the Imambargah at a time when Friday prayers were underway and a large number of worshippers were present inside.

The blast caused severe damage to the main hall of the Imambargah, while parts of the roof and walls were also damaged. Several vehicles parked nearby were damaged, and the glass panels of the Imambargah’s interior structure were shattered.A number of people were martyred, and immediate rescue operations were launched to shift the victims from the prayer hall.

Soon after the blast, the scene resembled utter devastation. The injured could be heard crying out for help, while local residents assisted rescue workers in pulling the wounded from the debris. Dozens of ambulances of Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to nearby public and private hospitals, where an emergency was imposed. Hospital sources stated that the condition of several injured persons remains critical, raising fears that the death toll may rise further.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the DIG Operations, SSP Operations Islamabad Police, district administration, Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade, and senior officials of other relevant departments arrived at the site with heavy contingents. Security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched clearance and search operations, while entry and exit points were sealed and checking of suspicious individuals was initiated.

On the directives of the IG Islamabad, an immediate emergency has been imposed in the federal capital, and security across the city has been placed on high alert. Additional personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, places of worship, educational institutions, government buildings, and important installations to avert any possible untoward incident.

Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic teams are also present at the scene, collecting evidence and material used in the explosion. Initially, the blast has been declared a suicide attack; however, final conclusions will be drawn after the forensic report. Security agencies stated that investigations are underway from all angles and those involved in the attack will be exposed and brought to justice.
