Jared Kushner Unveils Ambitious Plan to Rebuild Gaza as Regional Hub

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, has outlined an ambitious plan to rebuild Gaza, describing it as a rare opportunity to fundamentally reshape the conflict-hit territory. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Kushner said the proposal should be seen as a clear and final roadmap rather than a conceptual idea, arguing that any failure would be due to political and security challenges on the ground, particularly the continued presence of armed groups, rather than flaws in the plan itself.

The presentation came shortly after the signing of the charter for Trump’s newly established Board of Peace, an initiative associated with the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas in October. Kushner, who played a key role in those negotiations, adopted an optimistic stance while acknowledging that significant questions remain regarding implementation, enforcement, and long-term stability.

Central to the proposal is a sweeping transformation of Gaza’s coastline. Maps presented by Kushner depict a major tourism corridor along the seafront, designed to host up to one hundred and eighty high-rise buildings, many of them hotels. The plan also envisions the construction of a commercial port near Gaza’s southwestern border with Egypt, along with an airport zone further inland, aimed at integrating Gaza into regional trade, travel, and economic networks.
