LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Punjab government has introduced a series of new measures aimed at improving security and service standards in public hospitals. The decisions were taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Under the plan, hospital security guards, ward boys, nurses, and pharmacy staff will be equipped with body cameras to monitor their performance and ensure accountability. Doctors and nurses will also be barred from using mobile phones during duty hours to enhance patient care.

The meeting highlighted that over the past two years, more than 2,500 doctors have been appointed across Punjab’s public healthcare system. Around 585,000 patients have been registered to receive heart medications at home, while 6,000 hepatitis and tuberculosis patients are currently getting medicines at their doorsteps.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed concern about medicine shortages and announced that Rs 8 billion has been allocated to address the issue. She instructed officials to establish a foolproof system to guarantee uninterrupted medicine supplies in hospitals.
Additionally, a performance-based pay system for Medical Superintendents will be introduced, Community Health Inspectors will conduct hospital surveys, and a Data Analysis Center will be set up to assess the effectiveness of health-sector welfare initiatives.
