ISLMABAD (Web Desk) – Indonesia has temporarily blocked access to Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, citing concerns over the risk of AI-generated pornographic and sexualised content. The decision makes Indonesia the first country to restrict the tool’s availability. The move follows growing criticism from regulators across Europe and Asia, some of whom have launched inquiries into explicit material circulating on the platform.

xAI, the company behind Grok, recently acknowledged shortcomings in its safety controls and announced restrictions on image generation and editing, limiting the feature to paid users while safeguards are strengthened. Authorities in Indonesia said the spread of non-consensual sexual deepfakes is a serious violation of human rights and digital safety. The communications ministry has summoned representatives from X for discussions, as officials stress that obscene online content violates national laws and cultural norms.
