Security Forces Foil Suicide Attack, Rescue Minor Student in Karachi
Terrorists Used Social Media to Indoctrinate Minor, Says Sindh Minister
KARACHI: Security agencies have averted a major tragedy in Karachi by rescuing a minor schoolgirl who had been prepared by terrorists for a suicide attack.
Addressing a joint press conference with Additional IG CTD Azad Khan and Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho, Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said the girl was contacted through social media, where terrorists shared fabricated stories and gradually indoctrinated her.
He said authorities are deliberately withholding the identity and address of the girl and her family to ensure their safety. “The government will provide full support and rehabilitation to the child and her family. Our priority is their protection,” he said.
The interior minister warned that terrorist narratives are based on lies and are spread through social media to mislead young minds and create hostility against the state. He urged parents to closely monitor their children’s social media use and called on the Baloch community to remain vigilant against such extremist groups.
Lanjar said timely action saved the girl, adding that efforts are underway to help her resume her education. “We want her to become a teacher of her choice and contribute positively to the country’s future,” he said.

Additional IG CTD Azad Khan revealed that a banned BLA operative contacted the girl via Instagram and later added her to a WhatsApp group, where she was exposed to hate material and gradually radicalized. He said the girl was moved outside Karachi and was intercepted during snap checking.
Due to her young age, authorities are not treating her as an accused. “She was a victim of manipulation. We are not taking her into the criminal justice system; instead, she and her family will be given protection and support,” Azad Khan said.
