England Wins Test in Australia After 14 Years, Avoids Whitewash

Melbourne: (Web Desk) – England secured a historic Test victory on Australian soil for the first time in 14 years, also avoiding a series whitewash.

In the Boxing Day Test of the Ashes series at Melbourne, England defeated Australia by 4 wickets. Australia had set a target of 175 runs for England, which the visitors achieved for the loss of 6 wickets.

In Australia’s second innings, the team was bowled out for 132 runs, after scoring 152 in their first innings. England had been all out for 110 runs in their first innings.

Jacob Bethell was England’s standout performer in the second innings, scoring 40 runs. English pacer Josh Tong claimed a total of 7 wickets in the match, while Brydon Cars took 4 wickets in Australia’s second innings.

For Australia, Travis Head top-scored in the second innings with 46 runs. England’s win came despite Australia holding a decisive 3-1 lead in the five-match Ashes series.
