Governor Returns CM Ali Amin Gandapur’s Resignation Over Signature Discrepancy
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is set to elect a new leader of the house today.
PESHAWAR – The resignation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has not been accepted after Governor Faisal Karim Kundi raised objections over discrepancies in his signatures.

According to a letter issued by the Governor’s Secretariat, two different resignation letters bearing Ali Amin Gandapur’s name were received, but the signatures on both were found to be “different and inconsistent.” Consequently, Governor Kundi returned the resignation for verification.
The Governor has directed Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to appear in person at the Governor House on October 15 at 3 p.m. to confirm the authenticity of his resignation.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is set to elect a new leader of the house today. Four candidates are in the race: Sohail Afridi from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Maulana Lutfur Rehman from JUI-F, Sardar Shah Jehan Yousaf from PML-N, and Arbab Zarak Khan from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Opposition parties are reportedly holding consultations to field a joint candidate for the top post. According to Opposition Leader Dr. Ibadullah, efforts are underway to agree on a consensus nominee.
The KP Assembly consists of 145 members, with 93 belonging to the government and 52 to the opposition. A simple majority of 73 votes is required to elect the new Chief Minister.
