Lahore to Islamabad Motorway Reopens, But Roadblocks Continue Amid Protests

ISLAMABAD: The Lahore to Islamabad Motorway has been reopened for all types of traffic, providing some relief to commuters amid ongoing disruptions caused by protests.

According to sources in the Motorway Police, motorists can now access the motorway from Abu Sabo and Thokar Niaz Baig. Both Motorway M2 and M3 are now fully operational from Lahore to Islamabad.

However, despite the reopening of the motorways, citizens in Rawalpindi and Islamabad continue to face significant travel difficulties due to road blockades placed in response to protests by a religious party. Containers have been placed at multiple key points in both cities, severely hampering the flow of traffic.

The Metro Bus Service in Rawalpindi and Islamabad remains suspended for a third consecutive day. In addition, all hotels in the Faizabad area have been sealed, leading to a halt in commercial and business activities in the surrounding areas.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with further updates expected based on the evolving security and protest conditions.
