Shuttering, wheel jam strike cripples In Azad Kashmir

Azad Kashmir – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Public Action Committee called for a shutter down and wheel jam strike in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, bringing life to a halt.

Shops, transportation, and even communication services ceased operations, demonstrating the public’s rising anger with their ignored demands.

Muzaffarabad’s markets, business areas, and truck depots were closed, and the highways were deserted of vehicles. Hotels and shops that generally open early remained closed. Schools were technically open, although classroom attendance was low due to student absences.

For the second day in a row, internet and mobile phone services were suspended in Azad Kashmir. In an unusual step, landline telephone services were also turned off, further isolating residents from the outside world.

The Public Action Committee called the strike, presenting a 38-point list of demands. One of the primary requests is the elimination of the 12 reserved seats for refugees, as well as the reduction of privileged privileges.

The Committee also announced intentions to hold a rally later in the day, ramping up its protest effort.
