Gilgit-Baltistan to Boost Investment and Gems Industry: CM Haji Gulbar Khan
The visiting Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in setting up industries in Gilgit, particularly in the gems and minerals sector.
GILGIT: Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, has assured full support for the promotion of investment and the gems industry in the region. Speaking to a delegation of Chinese investors, the CM highlighted the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to create a business-friendly environment for both local and international investors.
He said that an Investment Board has been established to facilitate investors, and a one-window operation system is being introduced to ensure timely resolution of issues faced by businesses.
The Chief Minister further informed the delegation that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gilgit-Baltistan was recently signed in the presence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. This SEZ is expected to significantly boost industrial and economic activity in the region.

In response, CM Gulbar Khan encouraged the delegation to submit a comprehensive proposal to the Provincial Secretary of Minerals and Industries, assuring that it would be thoroughly reviewed.

The meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister for Women Development Dilshad Bano, Chairman of the Board of Investment Fatehullah Khan, Vice Chairman Muhammad Ali Qaid, and Secretary of Minerals and Industries.
