CTD arrests three most-wanted terrorists in Jamshoro

How a police intelligence operation stopped planned bombings and uncovered foreign funding.

Sindh – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Hyderabad has captured three of Sindh’s “most-wanted” terrorists. The men, part of the banned Sindhu Desh Revolutionary Army (SRA), were arrested in Jamshoro on Friday after a tip-off.

This group, the SRA, was officially outlawed in 2020 for its terrorist activities. The arrested men are accused of serious crimes, including shooting at cargo boats in the Sujawal district.

Authorities revealed the group was actively planning to set off bombs and carry out targeted killings in Hyderabad. A police network was specifically created to track and stop them.

During the raid, police found a large cache of weapons and bomb-making materials. This included a hand grenade, explosive chemicals, detonators, ball bearings, a remote control, an 8 mm rifle, and bullets.

The suspects confessed to multiple attacks under orders from SRA leaders abroad. They admitted to planting bombs on railway tracks and targeting police officers.

One terrorist disclosed he had been given 14 tasks, including killings and bombings in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Kotri. He described planting a bomb on train tracks near Hyderabad on August 18th and another in Latifabad on August 28th, which police safely defused.

The terrorist admitted to receiving money from SRA leaders living in other countries through illegal money transfers. His job was to provide support to other operatives in Sindh and recruit young people for terrorist acts.

The group was planning a wave of bombings to disrupt peace and had a specific attack planned for September 6th.

This operation is a significant success following recent CTD actions, including breaking up a spy network in Badin and arresting another SRA suspect in April.
