ISLAMABAD: Germany has approved the entry of approximately 2,000 Afghan nationals currently residing in Pakistan, most of whom were previously deemed at risk following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
According to local media, the decision comes after months of restrictions and ongoing legal proceedings in Germany. The German Foreign Ministry stated that these Afghans were in various stages of the relocation process, and their screening has now resumed.
German authorities are currently present in Pakistan to facilitate the entry procedures. However, only those Afghan nationals whose asylum cases have succeeded in court or who were already granted formal approval for entry into Germany will be allowed to proceed.
All individuals will be required to pass security checks and obtain exit permits from the Government of Pakistan before departing.

It is important to note that Pakistan has issued a deadline of September 1st for Afghan nationals to voluntarily leave the country. This new development may offer a pathway for some vulnerable Afghans facing uncertainty amid that deadline.
