Political Reconciliation Possible Only Through Sincere Apology: Army Chief
On the topic of political reconciliation, Field Marshal Munir emphasized the need for genuine repentance.
Brussels: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has firmly rejected rumors of political change in Pakistan, calling them baseless and false. Speaking during an event hosted by overseas Pakistanis in Brussels, Field Marshal Munir told senior journalist Suhail Warraich that the rumors are being spread by those opposed to both the government and the establishment.
He clarified that he has no political ambitions beyond serving as the protector of the nation — a responsibility he believes has been entrusted to him by God.
“Reconciliation Only Possible Through Sincere Apology”
On the topic of political reconciliation, Field Marshal Munir emphasized the need for genuine repentance. Referring to Quranic verses about the creation of mankind, he said that all angels accepted God’s command except Iblees (Satan). “Those who apologized remained angels, while the one who didn’t became the devil,” he said.
Balanced Foreign Policy
Speaking on foreign relations, the Army Chief said Pakistan has long-standing experience in maintaining a balance between ties with both China and the United States. “We will not sacrifice one friend for another,” he added.
He also remarked that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s desire for peace is genuine, which is why Pakistan took the lead in nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize — a move now being followed by other countries.
Strong Message to India and Afghanistan
Field Marshal Munir issued a stern warning to India, urging it to refrain from destabilizing Pakistan through proxy warfare. He also called on the Afghan government to halt its policy of pushing Taliban elements into Pakistan, adding that avenging the blood of every Pakistani is a national obligation.

Praises PM’s Work Ethic
The Army Chief praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his sincerity and dedication, noting his commitment to working 18-hour days. He commended the prime minister and the cabinet for their resolve during times of crisis.
Warm Reception in Brussels
At the overseas Pakistanis’ event in Brussels, Field Marshal Munir received a hero’s welcome. Attendees hailed him as a “victor of war.” He spent several hours standing and meeting with Pakistani nationals who had come from far and wide. When advised to limit interactions to prevent disorder, he responded, “How can I turn away those who’ve come from so far?”
The Army Chief remained present until the last Pakistani had greeted him and bid farewell.
