Arbaeen March postponed: MWM reach seven-point agreement with government
*KARACHI: Arbaeen March Postponed After Government Reaches Agreement with Shia Leadership*
The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Shia Ulema Council have announced the *postponement of the Arbaeen March* following successful negotiations with the federal government regarding the ban on Pakistani pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq via land routes.
According to sources, the breakthrough came after detailed discussions between the Shia religious leadership and federal authorities, resulting in a *seven-point agreement*.
As a result of this understanding, the Shia Ulema Council has also *withdrawn its earlier call for nationwide protests*.
A key meeting of the Ja’fariyah Negotiation Committee took place with *Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori* and *Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, where concerns over **stranded pilgrims at border areas* were addressed in detail.
The negotiation team included *Allama Dr. Shabbir Hassan Maisami, Secretary General of the Shia Ulema Council, and **Maulana Azhar Taqi, while MWM was represented by **Chairman Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi* and *Agha Baqar Zaidi*.
The federal representatives *assured the committee* that:
Pilgrims originally intending to travel by land will receive *government airfare subsidies
Immediate facilitation and clearance* will be arranged for pilgrims stuck at border points
Refunds, will be issued for annual bus payments previously collected from intending pilgrims
The development comes after *Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi* recently announced a ban on land travel through Balochistan for Arbaeen pilgrims, prompting widespread calls for protest by MWM and other religious groups.
This agreement marks a significant step toward resolving tensions and ensuring smoother arrangements for religious travel.
