Tarbela Dam Faces Water Shortage, Power Generation Severely Affected

Water Shortage at Tarbela Dam May Disrupt Summer Power Supply

Islamabad – Due to a significant shortage of water, power generation at Tarbela Dam has drastically decreased. According to sources, all 17 production units at the Tarbela power station have been shut down because of the water shortage, reducing the electricity generation to just 330 megawatts.

Currently, the water inflow at Tarbela Dam stands at 21,000 cusecs, while the outflow is zero cusecs, resulting in the water level rising to 1,407.29 feet.

Experts suggest that this water shortage may lead to further challenges in electricity supply, particularly during the summer months when demand increases.
