Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Free Plots for Homeless Families

Maryam Nawaz Unveils Ambitious Housing Plan for Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched an initiative to provide free plots to homeless and deserving families across the province. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Maskan Ravi Housing Scheme in Kala Shah Kaku.

Speaking at the event, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the scheme’s goal is to uplift low-income families by giving them the opportunity to own land and build homes. She revealed that 3-marla plots will be allocated free of charge to eligible individuals, particularly in areas close to urban centers.

“Housing remains a critical challenge for many families in Punjab who lack a permanent roof over their heads,” said the Chief Minister. “This scheme is designed to help those who do not own a home or have the resources to acquire one.”

In addition to the free plot allocation, Maryam Nawaz outlined ambitious housing development goals for the province. Within just two and a half months, 100 houses have been completed under the Maskan Ravi Housing Scheme. Plans are underway to build 100,000 houses in one year, with a long-term goal of providing homes to 500,000 families over the next five years.

The Chief Minister also discussed ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of 400 roads across Punjab. She highlighted the introduction of electric buses, with 25 buses already in Karachi and an additional 500 ordered. Maryam Nawaz also claimed that inflation has decreased, citing the reduction in the price of bread from Rs 25 to Rs 13.
