Azerbaijan Defence Delegation Visits PAF to Boost Military Ties

Rawalpindi: A high-level defence delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Minister of Defence and Director General Mr. Agil Gurbanov, along with Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Minister of Defence and Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force, visited the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Headquarters in Islamabad. The delegation met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force.

During the meeting, the Air Chief highlighted the recent achievements of the Pakistan Air Force, showcasing its commitment to operational excellence in modern warfare. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen bilateral military ties, particularly in operational and training cooperation. Notably, over 50% of the training objectives have been successfully achieved for a large contingent of Azerbaijan’s air and ground crew currently undergoing training at a PAF operational base. This training program, scheduled to conclude within a month, aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Azerbaijan Air Force.

The Azerbaijani delegation praised the professionalism of PAF personnel and commended the rapid development of Pakistan’s domestic aviation industry. They expressed satisfaction with the ongoing training of 70 aircrew and technicians and called for deeper Air Force-to-Air Force collaboration between the two countries. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani officials proposed expanding training programs to include advanced areas such as disruptive technologies, cyber warfare, and electronic warfare, in line with the evolving nature of modern military operations.

The delegation also visited the PAF Cyber Command at Air Headquarters, where they were briefed on the operational capabilities and ongoing modernization initiatives of the PAF.

This visit underscores the strong military partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, reflecting both nations’ commitment to furthering collaboration and enhancing their defence relations.
