Former Lahore DC Sumair Ahmed Syed Poised to Become PCB’s New COO

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing for significant leadership changes, with Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Naseer expected to be reassigned in the near future, according to sources.

Reports suggest that Naseer may be transitioned to a role within the Pakistan Super League (PSL), potentially as Managing Director (MD) or Head of PSL.

In his stead, former Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Sumair Ahmed Syed, is anticipated to assume the role of PCB’s new COO, taking the position on deputation from the Prime Minister’s House.

Syed’s appointment is expected soon, and he will work under both the PCB Chairman and Salman Naseer, who will report to him.

Further restructuring within the PSL is also on the horizon, with International Director Usman Wahla likely to be appointed as PSL Director. This decision has raised concerns among PSL franchises.

While franchises are reportedly supportive of Naseer’s move to the PSL, there is apprehension regarding Wahla’s potential appointment, reflecting ongoing discussions about the management direction of the league.
