Pakistan Condemns Israeli ‘Genocide’ in Gaza

PM urges immediate ceasefire in Palestine, calls for end to gaza bloodshed

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal)-Pakistan has expressed profound concern over the humanitarian toll in Gaza, particularly on women and children, as the one-year anniversary of Israel’s military actions approaches. Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch condemned Israel’s actions, describing them as “genocide” and “war crimes” that have resulted in the deaths of 42,000 Palestinians.

Addressing the all-parties conference, President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned Israel’s atrocities on Gaza, Palestine and Lebanon, saying that Israeli actions were jeopardising the world.

“Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, which resulted in the martyrdom of over 41,000 Palestinians,” he said, regretting that the infrastructure of health and education has been completely destroyed.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that “our party does not accept two-state solution [of Palestine issue]”.

The cleric gave his politico-religious party’s stance on the longstanding Palestinian issue while addressing an all-parties conference (APC) at the President’s House to show solidarity with Palestinians today on war anniversary. Fazl said that Hamas mujahideen had launched an attack on Israel last year which changed the genre of the Palestine issue. Rejecting the two-state solution, the JUI-F chief said that there is no justification for Jewish population or settlement in this region.

PLM-N President Nawaz Sharif has said that the entire nation wanted the political leadership to make a decision on Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Addressing the APC, the three-time former prime minister said that Israel continued its brutalities in Palestine. He questioned world’s silence on atrocities in Gaza.

He said that the United Nations failed to implement its resolution on IIOJK.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman strongly opposed the two-state solution for the Gaza-Israel conflict, saying that emphasising such a notion was tantamount to reversing principled stance.

“We do not even consider Israel a state,” the JI chief said, adding that they should only talk about the independence of Palestine.

He pointed out that almost 80 to 90% of infrastructure has been destroyed in Gaza, claiming the United States was providing 70 to 80% of arms and ammunition to Israel.

Furthermore, Naeem said they should expose those who are involved in “killing humanity”.

The JI Emir said that they do not accept the Israeli settlements in Gaza.

He noted that they should take leaders of Muslim countries, and also South Africa and China in confidence regarding the situation in Palestine.

Naeem urged the government to refrain from mentioning the two-state solution in the joint declaration of all-parties conference and instead call for the freedom of Palestine.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has demanded the federal government to sponsor the education of Palestinian children in all public-private universities.

“Israel is challenging the honour of Muslims every day,” said MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui while addressing an all-parties conference at the President’s House to show solidarity with Palestinians on war anniversary.

“We staged protests and politically raised this issue, however, we also need to put up this matter diplomatically,” he added.

Siddiqui urged the government to take practical steps in support of the Palestinian brethren.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said the entire Pakistani nation is standing behind the Palestinian brothers and sisters in their struggle against Israeli oppression.

He stressed the need for launching an intensive diplomatic campaign to fight the case of Palestinians on diplomatic and legal fronts. The PPP leader said that media should also be effectively engaged to expose the imperialist, colonial, and Zionist agenda of Israel. He proposed to constitute a high-power committee, having representation from all the political forces of the country, to raise voice for the oppressed people of Palestine.
