Harris’ Office Responds to Allegations of Misconduct by Secret Service Agent

U.S.-Secret Service (USSS) has launched an investigation into one of its agents following an incident involving a member of Vice President Kamala Harris’ office, according to a statement released by her team on Wednesday.

A Secret Service spokesperson confirmed that the agent has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the inquiry into “a misconduct allegation involving an employee,” though no further details were provided.

In its statement, Harris’ office emphasized a “zero tolerance for sexual misconduct.” The office was notified of the situation by the USSS, which initiated the investigation, the statement read.

Neither the name of the Secret Service agent nor the staff member involved has been disclosed. Harris’ office indicated that it would not release additional information at this time.

According to a report by Real Clear Politics, the incident allegedly occurred in a hotel room in Wisconsin this week, where the group was scouting potential campaign venues. The report suggests that the Secret Service agent made unwanted advances toward the Harris staffer.

This development comes as Harris faces off against former President Donald Trump in the closely contested U.S. elections scheduled for November 5.

The Secret Service, responsible for safeguarding U.S. political figures, has come under heightened scrutiny recently following an assassination attempt on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13. The agency’s former director resigned following the incident, with an investigation revealing lapses in security protocols prior to the attack.
