In response to the shocking murder of Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, the Lahore police have assembled a team of expert investigators to take charge of the case.
The team, formed under the approval of DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar, includes two Superintendents of Police (SP), Sadar Shahzad Rafiq Awan and Rana Zahid, as well as two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), Iftikhar Rasool and Ijaz Ahmad.
Javed Butt was fatally shot by unknown attackers on Lahore’s Canal Road this past Monday. His sister, Teefi Butt’s wife, was also injured in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
Authorities suspect the attack may be connected to the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, in which Teefi Butt and Gogi Butt are accused.
The investigation team is set to begin their inquiry on Wednesday, with the goal of uncovering the details surrounding Javed Butt’s killing.
Earlier, police stated that they had identified the main suspect behind the shooting of Javed Butt, who is related to Khawaja Tareef Butt, also known as Teefi Butt.
Sources indicate that a manhunt is in progress for the suspect, Azhar, who resides in Santnagar, Islampura, and is believed to have fled the scene on a motorcycle. Police reports suggest that Azhar hired a rickshaw from Wajihaul Hasan, a resident of Garhi Shahu, on the day of the murder. Azhar reportedly left the rickshaw at a stand in the Sandah area before using a motorcycle to carry out the shooting.
Through the rickshaw’s tracing, authorities identified Azhar as the prime suspect. Special investigation teams have been conducting raids in multiple locations to capture him. While the suspect remains at large, police are confident that his arrest is imminent.
On September 2, another twist emerged in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case when Javed Butt, Teefi Butt’s brother-in-law and the main suspect in the case, was killed in a gun attack on the busy Canal Road in Lahore. His wife was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
