Fly Jinnah Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Lahore Due to Smoke Alarm
A Fly Jinnah flight traveling from Karachi to Lahore was forced to make an emergency landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, on Monday after fire alarms were triggered in the cockpit.
According to a spokesperson from the Civil Airport Authority, the captain of the cargo flight issued a “mayday” call at 7:15 pm near Lahore, reporting smoke in the cargo hold. The private airline’s flight successfully landed at the airport at 7:23 pm without further incident.
The spokesperson added that the airport’s Fire Department promptly responded to the emergency, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated via the aircraft’s emergency exit system.
After a thorough inspection, the Fire Department declared the aircraft safe at 7:57 pm. Senior officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
In a statement, Fly Jinnah reported that its flight 9P846, en route from Karachi to Lahore, encountered a “smoke alarm” in the cargo compartment upon arrival in Lahore on Monday.
“All passengers and crew landed safely in Lahore,” the statement confirmed, adding that a thorough inspection was carried out by the technical team to determine the cause of the alarm.
Earlier this month, another emergency landing occurred in Karachi when an international flight diverted due to a passenger’s death on board.
Flight G9512, operated by a foreign airline, was traveling from Sharjah to Dhaka when a 42-year-old passenger fell critically ill, leading the crew to request emergency landing clearance.
