Waheed Murad’s Son Opposes Biopic, Cites Concerns Over Authenticity

Adil Murad, the son of the legendary Pakistani actor Waheed Murad, has voiced reservations about the idea of a biopic centered on his father.

In a recent interview, Adil reflected on his father’s remarkable legacy but expressed strong opposition to the concept of a film about Waheed Murad’s life.

He questioned, “At the end of the day, someone would need to portray him on screen. Will anyone truly be able to embody his essence? Can any actor effectively represent Waheed Murad?”

Adil expressed concerns about whether any actor could genuinely capture his father’s unique presence and charisma. He emphasized that Waheed Murad’s distinctive style and emotional depth are integral to his legacy—qualities he believes cannot be replicated.

Adil stressed that preserving his father’s name, fame, and reputation is more significant to him and his family than any potential financial benefits from a biopic. “His name and legacy are more valuable to us than the financial gains from films or biopics,” he said.

The late Waheed Murad, celebrated for his captivating performances and distinctive style, remains an esteemed figure in Pakistani cinema.

Fondly referred to as the ‘Chocolate Hero,’ Murad’s remarkable career spanned from 1961 until his untimely death on November 23, 1983.
