1.071 Million IESCO Domestic Customers to Receive Punjab Govt’s Electricity Bill Relief:
Islamabad-Mudassar Iqbal;-In a bid to provide financial assistance to domestic electricity customers, the Government of Punjab has announced a relief package of Rs. 14 per unit for the billing months of August and September 2024. This move is expected to benefit approximately 1.071 million customers of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
Dr. Tahir Masood, Chairman of the Board of Directors at IESCO, has announced that the distribution of bills along with the relief package has already begun. The company’s teams are working diligently to ensure that all eligible customers receive their bills with the relief amount.
The Punjab Government has committed to bearing the amount of relief, taking into account the hardships faced by customers while paying their electricity bills. This move demonstrates the government’s dedication to providing support to its citizens during difficult times.
If eligible customers have already deposited their full bills, the extra amount paid by them will be credited to their September 2024 bill. This ensures that customers do not face any financial hardship due to the relief package.
To further ease the burden on customers, the due date for bill payments has been extended. This will give customers more time to pay their bills, reducing the financial strain on them.
Ineligible Customers
Certain categories of customers are not eligible for this relief, including:
– Domestic TOD meters
– Lock premises
– Net metering
– Defective meters
– Customers involved in power theft
Dr. Tahir Masood has assured that transparency regarding the relief will be observed closely. This ensures that only eligible customers receive the benefit and that the relief package is implemented fairly.
The Punjab Government’s electricity relief package is a commendable move, providing much-needed financial assistance to domestic electricity customers. IESCO’s prompt distribution of bills with the relief package and the extension of the due date are also welcome steps. By ensuring transparency and fairness in the implementation of this relief package, the government and IESCO can make a positive impact on the lives of their customers.
