Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled ambitious plans to strengthen domestic cricket across the country in a meeting held in PCB headquarter in Lahore. Chairing a pivotal three-hour meeting at the National Cricket Academy, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi greenlit a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing the quality and competitiveness of domestic cricket. Key decisions included linking national team selection criteria directly to domestic cricket performance and initiating revisions to domestic player contracts.
The meeting also focused on elevating coaching standards within domestic cricket, with plans to appoint a master coach dedicated to training and nurturing local coaching talent. Emphasizing the significance of robust domestic cricket pathways, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi underscored PCB’s commitment to organizing continuous tournaments from grassroots club levels to the national stage. He stressed that player selection will be strictly merit-based, focusing on performance and fitness without compromise.
Speaking on the urgency of talent development, Naqvi highlighted the importance of investing in new talent to bridge the gap with international cricket standards.
