PFUJ condemns journalist Nasarullah Gadani’s murder

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has slammed the brutal murder of Nasarullah Gadani, a journalist from Ghotki, Sindh.

The three leaders of PFUJ noted that it was not the first murder of journalist in Sindh. “A number of other media persons were also eliminated over the years and no culprit was arrested.”

Butt, Ansari and Pathan claimed that the failure of the government in providing protection to media persons and arresting criminals has created a sense of impunity among those who want to target journalists.

The PFUJ leaders demanded of the government to immediately arrest those who perpetrated this heinous crime. They also demanded of the government to pay compensation to the family of the slain media person’s family.

The three leaders paid rich tribute to Gadani.“Nasarullah Gadani was a brave and dedicated journalist who fearlessly reported on the truth, even in the face of danger”

PFUJ leadership said that his murder is a stark reminder of the risks journalists face in Pakistan and the need for greater protection and security for media professionals.

PFUJ also demanded for immediate constitution of commission of complaints as per the requirement of the Journalists Protection Bill 2022 which has not been constituted after the demise of former Sindh high court judge Rasheed A Rizvi.

PFUJ extends its condolences to the family of Nasarullah Gadani, vowing to continue fighting for the rights and safety of journalists in Pakistan.
