Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s Visit to NADRA Headquarters: Major Decisions for Public Facilitation and Crackdown on Fake ID Card Mafia

ISLAMABAD– Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) headquarters today, making significant decisions aimed at enhancing public convenience and combating the fake identity card mafia. During his visit, he issued directives for effective action against fraudulent activities and requested a comprehensive plan within seven days to increase NADRA centers in six major cities.

In a bid to make identity card services more accessible, Minister Naqvi announced that facilities for the issuance and renewal of identity cards will be extended to the Union Council level across Pakistan. Biometric machines will be installed at these local levels to facilitate the process. He instructed that the plan for providing these services at the Union Council level be finalized within a few days and called for a strategy to make the ID card system foolproof, efficient, and swift.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of streamlining operations at NADRA centers to ease the difficulties faced by the public. He called for a plan to be devised that ensures visitors to NADRA centers can complete their tasks without delays. Additionally, he demanded immediate measures for the establishment of more NADRA centers in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, and requested a plan for the expansion of centers in these cities within seven days.

During his visit, Minister Naqvi ordered robust actions to eliminate the fake ID card mafia. He also toured the NADRA operational room, where he received a briefing on the digital monitoring system of NADRA centers nationwide. Minister Naqvi praised the efforts of NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal and his team for their hard work and dedication.

The visit concluded with a conference chaired by Minister Naqvi in the NADRA headquarters’ conference room, where various suggestions were reviewed to make NADRA more user-friendly. Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha and other senior NADRA officials were also present at the meeting.

This visit and the subsequent decisions underscore the government’s commitment to improving public services and ensuring a secure and efficient system for identity card issuance and renewal across the country.
