Ethiopian Airlines Receives Tremendous Response in Pakistan: Ethiopian Ambassador
Islamabad: Jemal Beker Abdula, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, paid a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Thursday.
The purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions with the chamber’s leadership on enhancing cooperation between the trade bodies of Pakistan and Ethiopia.
Upon his arrival, Ambassador Abdula received a warm welcome from Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Islamabad Chamber, and other officials of the chamber. The discussions revolved around various topics of mutual interest, with a focus on initiatives aimed at bolstering business and trade relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Abdula underscored the significant role played by Ethiopia in the “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy, particularly through the commencement of Ethiopian Airlines operations in Karachi. He expressed satisfaction at the overwhelming response received by Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan and revealed plans to expand its operations to Islamabad and Lahore.

Highlighting the efforts to enhance bilateral relations, Ambassador Abdula mentioned facilitating numerous business delegations between Ethiopia and Pakistan over the past year and a half. He emphasized that economic diplomacy remained a top priority for the Ethiopian Embassy, aiming to foster closer connections between the people of both nations at the grassroots level. Additionally, he announced plans to lead another trade delegation to Ethiopia in May this year.
