Sunni Ittehad Council Appoints Opposition Leaders in Punjab Assembly.
ISLAMABAD: The internal dynamics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were brought to light during a recent committee meeting.
According to private television reports, the committee meeting decided that the current leadership of PTI is not authorized to make decisions unilaterally, and significant decisions must be made through mutual consultation and with the final approval of the party’s founder, Imran Khan.
The committee, as per the report, deemed it a grave mistake not to form an alliance with the Sherani Group and the MWM. Members expressed their views that decisions regarding alliance formation and distribution of tickets were not made in consultation with Imran Khan.
Sources within the party have stated that the decision not to form an alliance with the MWM was incorrect; instead, an agreement should have been made with the Sherani Group rather than the Sunni Ittehad Council.
The committee also expressed reservations about Marza Mohammad Afridi’s nomination for the Senate and strongly reacted to discussions regarding Marza Afridi’s family ties with PTI’s founder. The committee emphasized that Marza Mohammad Afridi should not receive support from PTI; rather, PTI’s own candidate should be supported in the Senate.
