Court Cancels Permanent Arrest Warrant for Hassan and Hussain Nawaz
Asks former PM’s sons to furnish surety bonds of Rs50,000 each.
Islamabad: Accountability Court in Islamabad has taken a decision by canceling the permanent arrest warrants for Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, the sons of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, granting them bail. The court proceedings unfolded as Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, who were facing charges in the Flagship, Al-Azizia, and Avenfield references, appeared before Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
Initially, there was a delay in their lawyer’s appearance, but eventually, Hassan and Hussain, accompanied by their lawyer Qazi Misbah, attended the court session. Misbah presented a request to suspend the permanent warrants, highlighting that the Nawaz family had faced three references, and applications had been filed accordingly.
Remarkably, previous rulings had acquitted Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (R) Safdar in the Avenfield case, and Nawaz Sharif himself was acquitted in the Al-Azizia reference by the Islamabad High Court. Furthermore, the trial court had also acquitted Nawaz Sharif in the Flagship case.

Following the arguments, the Accountability Court decided to cancel the arrest warrants and approved bail for Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, subject to the submission of a surety bond worth Rs50,000. Additionally, they filed an application seeking exemption from attending the next court hearing.
The court proceedings adjourned until the following day, while also lifting the proclaimed offender status from both accused individuals.
