RAWALPINDI: (Special Reporter/Mudassar Iqbal) – Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said security forces eliminated more than 54 terrorists during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) and counterterrorism missions carried out across Balochistan over the last four days. He added that 42 security personnel embraced martyrdom while performing their duties during these operations.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the operations were launched in response to a wave of terrorist attacks in Balochistan. He stated that security forces targeted armed militants in multiple engagements aimed at restoring peace and protecting civilians.

The military spokesperson said three major terrorist incidents occurred in Balochistan during the past four days. According to him, militants identified as Fitna al-Khawarij targeted innocent civilians in an attempt to further their violent agenda.

Sharing details of the attack in Mangi, the DG ISPR said nine police personnel were martyred on the first day of the incident, while 18 more police officials embraced martyrdom on Wednesday, raising the total number of police martyrs to 27.

He also referred to an earlier attack in Hanna Urak on the night of July 4–5, claiming that militants from Fitna al-Khawarij targeted local residents. According to the military spokesperson, members of the local community resisted the assault and forced the attackers to retreat.
