Water Crisis Deepens in Karachi’s Central District
Residents Endure Long Waits and High Costs Due to Tanker Mafia
Karachi-The water crisis in Karachi’s Central District has escalated, leaving residents in areas such as North Karachi, Shadman, and Bufferzone dependent on the notorious tanker mafia.
Residents are enduring waits of up to 21 days for water, which is only available for a brief 24-hour period. Many are unable to afford the costly water tankers, raising serious concerns about how families will manage without reliable access to this essential resource.
“We can’t afford water tankers. How are we supposed to get by?” expressed one frustrated resident from Makin, North Karachi.

The worsening situation has prompted protests, with residents demonstrating on Saturday against the illegal hydrants exacerbating the crisis.
The tanker mafia continues to exploit the situation, profiting from the misery of Karachi’s residents, while the city’s water infrastructure fails to provide for basic needs.
