Zahid Ahmed Condemns Reality Show Lazawal Ishq for Promoting Obscenity
The actor alleged that the producers deliberately released the show on YouTube to avoid PEMRA’s regulatory oversight.
ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani actor Zahid Ahmed has openly criticized the reality show Lazawal Ishq, claiming it promotes obscenity and hides a troubling agenda behind its production.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Zahid expressed his strong disapproval of the show, which has sparked widespread controversy online. He stated that he cannot support any content that undermines Pakistan’s cultural values or promotes vulgarity.
Questions About Producers
Zahid revealed that his concerns started when the show was first announced. He attempted to identify the production team but was unable to do so. Although actress Ayesha Omar hosts the show, he chose not to question her directly as he does not view the program positively and does not know her personally.
Hidden Agenda Allegations
The actor alleged that the producers deliberately released the show on YouTube to avoid PEMRA’s regulatory oversight. By using Pakistani hosts and contestants, Zahid said the show tried to appear culturally local, but its content does not reflect Pakistan’s moral values. He claimed that the show is part of a broader agenda aimed at misrepresenting Pakistan internationally.

Public Reaction and Controversy
Zahid welcomed the backlash the show has received. The first episode premiered on September 29 on YouTube, prompting viewers to accuse it of promoting indecency. Ayesha Omar defended the show, insisting it is not a dating program. However, social media users continued to demand a complete ban.
PEMRA clarified that because the show streams online, it falls outside its jurisdiction and cannot currently be banned.
The controversy highlights the ongoing debate in Pakistan over digital content, cultural values, and the limits of regulatory authority.
